Become a Member
WHY is membership so important?
Membership encourages members to be actively involved.
It links individuals from different organizations dedicated to food and nutrition issues who seek to improve the food and nutrition environment for a healthier NYC.
What are the benefits of becoming a member?
NYCNEN members can become more active within the NYCNEN community, attend five General Meetings for free, participate in the NYCNEN listserv where job opportunities and relevant events are posted, access the members-only section of our website where past meeting resources are listed, and attend special events such as luncheons, book signings, skill-builders, etc. at a lower cost.
Who should become a member?
NYCNEN includes nutrition professionals from health centers, emergency food programs, agriculture, advocacy groups, academic programs, government agencies, nutrition education programs, private consultants, students and all those interested on better nutrition for NYC. NYCNEN members may be tax-supported, voluntary, for-profit or not-for-profit.
How do I become a member?
Members pay membership dues once a year. All activities of NYCNEN are for noncommercial use or gain.
You may be become a member by paying your membership dues through clicking the button above.

What is the cost of membership?
Membership is good for 365 days from the date of payment.

The 2019-2020 membership fees are:
  • $40.00 New Professional Member/Renewing Members
  • $25.00 Student Member (proof of student status is required)
Are there any discounts for membership?
No, NYCNEN does not currently offer discounts on its membership. However, if you attend one of our general meetings as a non-member (or an expired member), you can apply the $20 meeting fee that you paid towards a membership as long as you join (or renew) within 30 days of the meeting you attended.
How do I apply my meeting fee to my membership?
You are able to apply the $20 meeting fee that you paid towards a membership as long as you join (or renew) within 30 days of the meeting you attended.

This means that if you are a student, the fee to join or renew would only be $5. If you are a professional member, the fee  to join or renew would be $20. You can use the special discount codes on the membership payment website to complete the transaction at these prices. The special discount code will be mailed to you after the meeting.

Here is an example to help explain how this policy works:
  • Jane is a student who attended our first meeting of the year, the NYCNEN 20th Anniversary on September 23rd. She paid $20 as a non-member.
  • If Jane joined NYCNEN October 21st, then she would be able to apply the $20 she paid at the Anniversary Event to her membership. Thus, she would only need to pay $5 to complete the $25 student membership fee. This could be done online using the appropriate discount code that was indicated in a follow-up email after the meeting.
  • If Jane did not join NYCNEN by October 21st, then she would not be able to apply the $20 payment from the Kick Off Event towards a membership. Instead, she would have to pay $25 for a student membership, either online or at the next meeting she attends.
